Frequently Asked Questions

  • This may include Cognitive Hypnotherapy, Trauma Release Exercises (TRE), Buteyko breath re-education and Pain Neuroscience Education. Sessions are tailored to you. We use what is most helpful rather than following a fixed formula.

  • Yes. Hypnotherapy is safe, and you remain fully aware and in control throughout. In fact, feeling safe underpins the whole process.

Trance is a normal, everyday state — similar to daydreaming or being absorbed in a book. You cannot be made to do or say anything against your will. The process is collaborative and consent-based at all times.

  • Most people describe it as relaxed, focused attention, like a personal guided meditation with a conversational element.

Some feel deeply relaxed. Others feel simply calm and present. There is no “wrong” way to experience it, and depth of trance does not determine effectiveness.

  • If past experiences are relevant, we work gradually and safely, ensuring you feel resourced and supported first. The aim is not to relive trauma, but to reduce the emotional charge attached to it so it no longer drives present symptoms.

  • Yes, TRE is safe. It is generally avoided immediately after surgery and approached cautiously during pregnancy.

The exercises are simple and self-regulating. Once learned, many people continue practising independently at home.

  • Buteyko is a form of breath re-education designed to improve breathing efficiency and nervous system regulation.

Many women with anxiety, chronic pain or insomnia unknowingly over-breathe or rely on upper chest breathing. This can keep the body in a subtle state of stress.

Buteyko helps restore functional breathing patterns and improve carbon dioxide tolerance. When breathing becomes steadier and more efficient, the nervous system receives a strong signal of safety. This can reduce anxiety symptoms, improve sleep, and support pain reduction.

  • If breathing patterns are contributing to your symptoms, its wise to include short, manageable Buteyko practices between sessions.

These are simple and practical, designed to integrate into daily life rather than feel overwhelming. Not everyone requires structured breath work. We include it when it is relevant to your nervous system and goals. Once you reach those goals, you no longer need the exercises.

  • Yes. I have found online sessions to be just as effective as in-person work.

You’ll need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a laptop or tablet where we can see and hear each other clearly. Many clients find working from home helps them feel more comfortable and relaxed.

  • This varies.

Some women notice meaningful shifts within a few sessions. Others benefit from a longer period of structured support.

Most clients begin weekly, and we review progress regularly to ensure the work remains focused and purposeful.

  • Many clients feel some degree of relief or clarity early on. Deeper change builds over time as nervous system patterns update.

The process is structured, and sustainable change requires consistency.

  • Cognitive Hypnotherapy does not rely on high suggestibility.

It relies on collaboration, understanding, trust, and your willingness to engage with the process.

  • We can discuss what has been happening, where you are at, explore whether this approach fits your needs, and decide together how to proceed.
